Give yourself the best chance of good hearing
In 1966, at the age of 16, I left school to work on my parent’s farm in Shackleton. At about the same time I also worked out that my hearing could be compromised from the driving of cabinless Chamberlain tractors for 10-12 hours a day which left my ears ringing for some time afterwards. I bought a set of earmuff s from Boans in Perth and tried to protect my hearing, but with the degree of noise exposure that farm work entailed, hearing loss was inevitable.
At age 30 I set up an engineering business in Corrigin with angle grinding and steel on steel noise, encouraging the staff to take care of their ears while at the same time somewhat neglecting my own. By the mid-1980s, I needed a hearing aid which proved very uncomfortable with a really annoying blocked sensation akin to having my fingers in my ears.
By 1990 I had moved to Mandurah and set up Rota plastic moulding and steel fabrication factory, building ovens for our machinery. This was a further assault on my hearing, with age not helping. By now it had become difficult joining in on family conversations or struggling along in noisy restaurants, so I started to avoid social situations. It was embarrassing having to ask people to repeat themselves, and it isn't encouraging to feel left out of conversations, something that comes with hearing loss.
In 2018 a friend recommended Brad Hutchinson Hearing, and that visit has made an enormous change to my being able to hear and communicate with those around me. I bought top-of-the-line hearing aids because I wanted to get it right from the outset, and Brad and his team spent time ensuring that I had the best change of Hearing well. I love my new aids and feel they are extremely good value. At the end of the day we need to take charge of our own health and well-being so that we have every chance of an enjoyable, fulfilling rest of life.
I highly recommend that people take the time to make an appointment to see the skilled professionals at Brad's clinic. Like me, I believe you will walk out confident that you have had the best possible attention to your hearing needs.
